When you begin to notice that the sharpening effectiveness is not as good as it was when new, it is time to reverse the blades. To reverse the blades, remove the mounting screws and then the center screw. Then remove the hold down cap. This exposes the sharpening tips. Carefully remove each sharpening tip. Lay the right tip on your right side with the reference dot (·) on the tip facing up. Lay the left tip to your left with the reference dot facing up.
NOW IS A GOOD TIME TO THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE BODY OF THE SHARPENER USING WARM SOAPY WATER. Reassemble the sharpener by placing the sharpening tip on your right into the left slot and the tip on your left into the right slot keeping the reference dots on the blades facing the front of the sharpener. Do not turn the blades over, this comes in the third use. Re-install the blade hold down cap with the short screw and then remount the sharpener with the two long screws. You have now reversed the blades and the sharpener should be as effective as it was when new.
After the tips become worn for the second time, you will turn the blades over as you remove them. then reassemble as described above except that the blank side of the tips (no reference dot) will be facing forward.
For the fourth use, you will again move the left blade to the right and the right blade to the left keeping the blank side of the tips facing you. After the fourth use, the tips will need to be replaced. For replacement tips, see your dealer or refer to the warranty section below.
SAFETY WARNING: IF AT ANY TIME YOU SEE ANY BREAKS OR CRACKS IN THE SHARPENER, DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE IT. EITHER DISCARD IT OR RETURN IT UNDER THE TERMS OF THE WARRANTY
